HATENA - INTEREST TRACK REVIEW
Hi! Today I'm doing a quick track review of the new single from HATENA, "INTEREST"! If you've been reading this blog for a while you'll probably know that I'm a fan of HATENA's work, and their project "HANDZ" actually ended up being my first project reviewed for this blog.
At the very start of February, they released a new single titled "INTEREST". I'm aware it hasn't been too long since the release of this track, but I think I'm ready to review this one.
"INTEREST" successfully manages to replicate the glitchy and lo-fi sound off of his project "HANDZ", and I could see this track fitting right in on that album - with stilted synth bass hits (I say that in a good way), and even the song breaking down about fifty seconds in.
However, this aesthetic doesn't get in the way of any of the mixing this time around - which I found was a bit of an issue on some of the songs on "HANDZ". You can hear pretty much every detail clearly, and it's not at all messy.
The sample chopping on this single is extremely well done as well. I mentioned the bass hits earlier, but the entire song flows really well. One thing I will say is that the first part of the song feels a little bit empty, but that's about it.
The drums here are pretty good too. They fit very well over the sample, and the rapid cymbals that come into the song during the second half are phenomenal.
So yeah - really enjoying this thing right now. Definitely very interested with how the rest of their next project will sound.
Good song, go listen.
